Our local ministry partners are busy showing the love of Christ to our neighbors – and many Oak Hill servants delight in the front-row seats they have to seeing God at work as they co-labor with these partners.
As I have stepped into this role, I have been blessed by realizing how many Oak Hill saints are actively engaged with our ministry partners in our community, obeying Christ’s command to love our neighbors. Our church loves Jesus and actively lives that out. Praise God!
Here are ways a few of our ministry partners are at work. As you thank the Lord for his faithfulness in our community and for those who serve in these organizations, please also boldly ask him to provide what these partners ask for according to the Lord’s sovereign and good purposes.
Bible Adventure
Gina Plain is co-coordinator of Bible Adventure at Quarryville Elementary. She has seen God at work this summer in the provision of funds collected at another local church which fully sponsored three Quarryville Elementary students to attend Bible Adventure camp. All of God’s people love to see His name lifted high.
Gina also found joy in seeing several Bible Adventure students at one of the summer Solid Rock art camps we hosted at Oak Hill (and led by Katy Miller). Gina shares, “It’s always nice to be able to touch base with the families when you see them at both places.” [Similarly, Cheryl Baldwin, who volunteers at multiple Solid Rock programs, greeted a young student recently at the Daily Grind. He grinned at seeing a familiar face in an unexpected location. Never underestimate how much loving others in the name of Christ means to them.]
Please pray that Quarryville Elementary Bible Adventure would have enough volunteers (“listeners”) for all the children that God gives them in the coming school year. Also pray for their kickoff rally August 20, 9:30 am-12:30 pm, at Lancaster Alliance Church. Anyone willing to respond to their need for listeners would be welcome and will receive guidance.

Solid Rock Youth Ministry
Solid Rock is grateful that the Lord has brought 46 new students for their summer programs this year. The connections they are building with each other, with new friends, and with Solid Rock volunteers point everyone to Christ. I heard wonderful stories about the fellowship and enthusiasm among the recent baking camp students held in our kitchen and staffed by Oak Hill volunteers. Who wouldn’t want to share the love of Christ over handmade pretzels, Dutch apple pies, and whoopie pies?
Please pray for Solid Rock staff as they wrap up summer programming and for phase two of their capital campaign.
Noah’s Ark Nursery School
Cathy, Noah’s Ark Nursery School director, sees God’s faithfulness in how the Oak Hill staff, leadership team, and congregation support them. During the recent school year, Noah’s Ark provided a faith-based preschool education to 132 local children. God’s grace continues to pour out to families in our community through the school, their amazing staff, and their wonderful parent volunteers. Cathy also praises the Lord that after a 27-month process, the school has finally received their 501 (c) 3 status as a public charity.
Please pray for healthy and safe staff, volunteers, and children in the coming school year. Also pray that more volunteers step forward for Tuesday/Thursday classroom helpers. They need three more people on each of those days.
Looking Ahead
I encourage you to prayerfully consider how you can share the love of Christ with our neighbors during the Solanco Fair parade outreach in September, the Makers’ Market in October, the Coats for All event in November, the Solid Rock Christmas Decorating event (formerly the Gingerbread House event) in December, and more.
Thank you, Oak Hill, for your service in these and in our other partner ministries. Your joyful labor and your prayers are deeply appreciated. You are loved!
