Building & Grounds: Making Room for Gospel Opportunity

God has faithfully provided Oak Hill with a building and property right in the heart of our community, and our Building & Grounds team has helped us steward that gift for His purposes. This year’s Parade Outreach provides a beautiful example of the opportunities our building provides.

Early in the afternoon on the day of the parade, Phil, who is our Building and Grounds Coordinator, arrived to prepare the property for the evening festivities by setting stakes in the yard and stringing lights along the parking lot so that our church family could welcome our neighbors as they returned from the parade and fair. Then a team of willing ministry servants joined him in their BELIEVE shirts and got right to work setting up the cotton candy and popcorn machines, candy bags, the corn tractor tub for the kids, balloon-animal supplies, and more.

All of these details may seem like simple preparations, but they helped create a welcoming place where hundreds of people could experience the love of Christ. We are deeply thankful that God has given us a place in the center of the parade route. and for the people who faithfully care for that place so we can open our doors and make the most of gospel opportunities.

And what an evening it was! Through this one outreach, more than 30 ministry servants walked the streets in prayer and served 438 waters, 250 Dark Night Bright Light invitations, 200 candy bags, 280 popcorn bags, 120 cotton candy cones, and more than 100 animal balloons. More importantly, people came, served, listened, prayed, and shared the hope of Jesus with our community.
